Say by John Mayer
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all your so called problems
Better put 'em in quotations
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say...
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you'd be better off instead
If you could only
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say...
Have no fear
For giving in
Have no fear
For giving over
You better know that in the end
It's better to say too much
Then never to say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open... wide...
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to
Say what you need to
Say what you need to say...

Dripping
We cannot separate ourselves
from our history. And
our journey may
not always taste
like fresh lemonade
in summer.
I have piles
of myself,
stockpiled under
the floor.
Have you ever
been hurt,
Have you ever
felt so close
that you might
touch the center
of some secret,
forbidden world?
Are you alive
and real;
sincere and slightly
insane.
I walk
in sunlight,
warmth upon my shoulders,
wrap me in
my thoughts.
I tread across
these streets;
they were never really yours,
and think of all
the times
I wondered.
from our history. And
our journey may
not always taste
like fresh lemonade
in summer.
I have piles
of myself,
stockpiled under
the floor.
Have you ever

Have you ever

Sufjan Stevens
For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in by Sufjan Stevens
I have called you children
I have called you son
What is there to answer
If I'm the only one
Morning comes in paradise
Morning comes in light
Still I must obey
Still I must invite
If there's anything to say
If there's anything to do
If there's any other way
I'll do anything for you
I was dressed embarrassment
I was dressed in wine
If you had a part of me
Will you take your time?
Even if I come back
Even if I die
Is there some idea
To replace my life
Like a father to impress
Like a mothers mourning dress
If I ever make a mess
I'll do anything for you
I have you called you preacher
I have called you son
If you have a father
Or if you haven't one
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I have called you children
I have called you son
What is there to answer

Blugh.
I miss those days of freckles
and fresh summer skin.
We walked the roads of a world
we thought we knew,
and laughed at who we were.
I miss the days of star-gazing,
laying below a vast expanse
we still rarely comprehend.
I am the girl who spoke to you
in front of the convenience store.
I was the one who reminded you
of who you are
and who we were.
I struggle to make it connect,
and often forget;
it would be dull
if these things were easy.
I hope to find us settled under the same stars and sky that have always been above us. I hope we watch the same moon and think the same thing some nights. I hope we'll never forget what it was to be free and adventurous. I hope we live like this and like that forever.

Iron and Wine
Sunset Soon Forgotten by Iron and Wine
Be this sunset soon forgotten
your brothers left here shaved and crazy
we've learned to hide our bottles in the well
and what's worth keeping, sun still sinking
down and down
once again
down and down
gone again
Be this sunset one for keeping
this june bug street sings low and lovely
those band-aid children
chased your dog away
she runs, returning, suns still sinking
down and down
once again
down and down
gone again
Be this sunset soon forgotten
your brothers left here shaved and crazy
we've learned to hide our bottles in the well
and what's worth keeping, sun still sinking
down and down
once again
down and down
gone again
Be this sunset one for keeping

she runs, returning, suns still sinking
down and down
once again
down and down
gone again
