I have carried myself
through days
of disillusion.

We are pacing,
tracing and retaking
distant traveled paths.
Back and forth,
through the corridors
of our hearts.

I give a piece
and take a breath.
I take a kiss
and bury my face
in the skin
and scent
of you.

Please be strong, and let us dream.
Should it be
allowed;
I lean on someone
other than
me.

I capture each moment,
like butterflies drifting
in my mind.
I trap them in
opaque glasses
of lucid dreams.
Tepid and immeasurable.
Was it today;
or was this only
a thought
unseen.
Did we sit
and wrap
the contents of
our minds
around the
realizations of
each other?
We fold
and bend
like bright
destructible decorations
of packages yet
unopened.
[Sent to the address,
tentatively,
creases in tape
betray my
nerves.]
I cover
and uncover
subconscious myths;
interpretations
of you.

Will You Return

Will You Return by The Avett Brothers

I open my door and here’s what occurs.
A pretty little gal with pretty little curls.
Leans to the side, leans on my mind.

I don’t want to live, but I sure don’t want to die.
I’m stuttering again and tellin' her goodbye.
Oh m-m-my, Goodb-b-bye

Will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.
Will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.

She walks up to me with something more to say.
Then hello and goodbye I hope that you’re okay.
Well I’m doing fine… I’m doing fine.

Will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.
Will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.

I wish you’d see yourself as beautiful as I see you
Why can’t you see yourself as beautiful as I see you?

I open my door and this is what I see.
The hope inside a girl just looking back at me.
Ohh my… Goodbye…

Will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.
And will you come again? It’s hard to say.
I surely hope so.

Life Being What It Is

Life Being What It Is by Kaki King

You put a note in my pocket
Said “be good to yourself” and that was all
Life being what it is
We all dream of revenge
Open your eyes for a second
Just to roll them at me

I stared straight into the sun
Something to concentrate on

Oooo oooo

And if you turn it on you’d find
I’ve written you a thousand times
You would do anything
You’d give up everything for
God knows why

I just can’t stay till your gone
I won’t wish you well
I won’t see you off
I won’t try to call if I see you in my mind
I'll say to you it’s not your fault

You said I’ll see you in September
But that’s not long enough for me
You put a note in my pocket
So it would take care of me
But that was all

Things People Have Said

[From Into the Wild]

"I wanted movement and not a calm course of existence. I wanted excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I felt in myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in our quiet life."
- Leo Tolstoy

"Wilderness appealed to those bored or disgusted with man and his works. It not only offered an escape from society but also an ideal stage for the Romantic individual to exercise the cult that he frequently made of his own soul. The solitude and total freedom of the wilderness created a perfect setting for either melancholy or exultation."
- Roderick Nash

"I am reborn. This is my dawn. Real life has just begun. Deliberate Living: Conscious attention to the basics of life, and a constant attention to your immediate environment and its concerns.... (Circumstance has no value. It is how one relates to a situation that has value. All true meaning resides in the personal relationship to a phenomenon, what it means to you).
The Great Holiness of Food, the Vital Heat.
Positivism, the Insurpassable Joy of the Life Aesthetic.
Absolute Truth and Honesty.
Reality.
Independence.
Finality- Stability- Consistency."
-Chris McCandles (Alexander Supertramp)

"Now what is history? It is the centuries of systematic explorations of the riddle of death, with a view to overcoming death. That's why people discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves, that's why they write symphonies. Now, you can't have advance in this direction without a certain faith. You can't make such discoveries without spiritual equipment. And the basic elements of this equipment are in the Gospels. What are they? To begin with, love of one's neighbor, which is the supreme form of vital energy. Once it fills the heart of man it has to overflow and spend itself. And then the two basic ideals of modern man- without them he is unthinkable- the idea of free personality and the idea of life as sacrifice."
- Boris Pasternak

"We sleep in time's hurdy-gurdy; we wake, if we ever wake, to the silence of God. And then, when we wake to the deep shores of time uncreated, then when the dazzling dark breaks over the far slopes of time, then it's time to toss things, like our reason, and our will; then it's time to break our necks for home.
There are no events but thoughts and the heart's hard turning, the heart's slow learning where to love and whom. The rest is merely gossip, and tales for other times."
-Annie Dillard

Splishy Splashy

Splishy Splashy by Lisa Hannigan

Surface slowly at your own speed
Waiting for some sky.
We're all laughing, we're all faking
Just to see you smile.

She waits her turn she waits her time,
And all her love it sings it shines

Have your coffee, splishy splashy
Frozen up the stairs.
Hollow but so normal
When she needs a piece of care.

She waits her turn she waits her time,
And all her love It sings it shines.
