Life Takes on New Meaning

As though
Unveiled,
I allow my mind
to wander.
What qualms have we
over the lives
of others?
I waited for the world
to tell me
exactly who
to be.
Chains, I am Untethered
in the striking winds
of Change.
Today, I reach
beyond. And find
what I have denied
Myself.

Some secret sin
you left in the
laundry hamper.
To be dealt with
at a later date.

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I Find You and Your Mind Again

It's time
I wrote
about you.
One so prominent
in my variable life.

You held a grimace
as I danced among the refuse.
Catching little questions,
no hesitations in shock.
I wish I'd known the truth.
And how you gave your hands
to help the aches of hearts.
A heart we held in our hands,
poked with sticks,
wished worries at and away.
You know me like man once knew
the patterns of the sun.
I uttered my world
in reckless abandon.
Pretend for Ages, until
we took our last leaps
and chased down unknown inhibitions.

I wish I'd had the words
for you that night.
Scratching hands together,
I denied worlds
and wounds.
Old, yet unhealed,
they eat at you like
fat caterpillars on
leaves
in springtime.
I can only hope
your heart remembers
why you ever cared at all.
Despite sickly situations.
At times, it is the waves
of guilt
that take me most.
But as any other,
our friendship is one that
Evolves.
And now, I double back
and Begin. again.
I fail you, and yet I am you.

You and I and this funny ride,
shooting across highways like
laughter under gestured sleeves.
Hours passing, and yet
the clocks in our minds freeze .
I smile at the thought
of your mind
ensconced in
Chicago Skylines.

The Brilliance of your mind becomes my perception of You.""

Evolution of Friendship

There are certain people in our lives that just seem to understand us.

You enter my life
so Casually.
Sharing conversations,
and common thought.
Over cups of endless tea,
we slowly begin to unravel.
Our lives are wound like
twine around
our hearts,
begging to be
Untied.
What I'd give
to know your
twine-wrapped world.
To share with you
the joy and sadness of life.
Our friendship Evolves,
Like creatures from ocean tales.
It's scary to watch
some stick
and some fade.
Yet I will remember(and know)
most vividly
the ones that you
jerked back
and saved.

I wonder
what's happened
to the ones
I bid ado,
without ever
saying
Goodbye.

I know not the depths of your heart, or even your middle name. But I know you are a beautiful soul.

And since you know you cannot see yourself,
so well as by reflection, I, your glass,
will modestly discover to yourself,
that of yourself which you yet know not of.

-William Shakespeare

We Follow in Footsteps

Your soul is like an island;
it's hiding in oceans from me.
It's only Tuesday
and already
I find myself missing you.

Oh January of dreams, we have come and won you. And just as we had begun to see, we stripped the remnants of blindfolds from covered eyes. I'll speak the names you swore never to repeat, imitating the gestures of your retreat. Things so simple and true, yet diluted over the years.
We wear our words out like our favorite pair of shoes. And when the cycle shifts, slowly transforming our ways, we begin to see the importance of what we say.

This life, it is such a funny thing. This exhaustion nips at my bouncing heels. I feel the need to catch my wavering breath. Running ragged, thin, stupid. I didn't think they were joking when they told us we only get one chance. And so I prove myself each day.

I am the Pyromaniac

http://writingisart2.deviantart.com/art/Memory-98495814

We Settle into Ourselves,
like grains of sand into the
stomach of the hourglass.
The days wash over us,
as tsunamis in the dead of winter.
So quick, and yet so slow.
We change pace,
syncopate-
drill tired feet onto firm trodden pebble ground.
Pacing, glaring, swearing.
I wait
for the glass to fill
-and spill.
As if it should take a million years
to realize who we are.

And yet it is so easy
to Settle into you.
Pulse rate mistake,
the dredges of my mind
spill out into
your lap.
My memory's contents scatter
like strings of Swarovski crystals
in the palms of our open hands.

Curse of Mankind.
We follow paths,
Chase dreams,
Fabricate lies.
Who stole
you from
yourself?

I remembered it
in the Depths of a lost December.
It called me back to the lines
scrawled across our pages,
mingled with denial and disguise.
It has been saved and rewritten.
But reviewed less often,
buried in the banks of our river.
I broke the replay buttons.
Found and forced-quit stat.
Sat atop the pile of tattered belongings
and secretly, sinfully, cried.
Such a Task. I found
Daunting.
Such choices I find
in the steel trap
of my mind.

I've kissed Them, tried to embrace Them. Denied Them, scattered Them, charred Them in my own pyromanic way. I dance in the flowing tide, and know They are watching me from backs of eroding dunes. Patiently Impatient, They will stick like bagolie, They will suck like leeches, never satisfied. And so THEY are Mine. I must come to terms with Them. Hold long-drawn conversations, even argue, yet They rarely truthfully reply.

What are we forgetting to remember. What are we trying to forget to remember.

They are Mine. And I Love Them. But I scatter Them like ashes, afraid to see the black upon my hands.

Exposed Like Film

We have yet to waste
the days away.
I can not forget
the moments
of Final Freedom.
I woke up and Realized:
Today I'm just Me.

I aim my gestures at airplanes hidden in clouds. Don't fly close to mountains; you might see a girl Giving you the Finger, dancing all the time.

I have Never
been Treated
Like this.

How odd it is to Think that we have known the confines (or lack thereof) of the heart. No such luck, for we are delicate figures sprawled across the Universe, testing our ungracious luck. I peer under the rock, persistently placed upon my unpacked path. Surprises! I was Never really there! This heart is like elastic stretched and redoubled, and stretched again. For a few moments, I allow you to hold this Thick Pink rubber-band and manipulate it in your sensual hands.

Raw. That word. It's like Meat in a package, sterile yet disgusting.
And yet, I am drawn to the raw exposure of your emotions.

Passing Through

Our lives take turns we never expected. The truth of today is that if we can simply pause, take a breath, and let go, it may become evident that we need not the walls of the past, or promises of the future. We simply need to recognize the greatness in ourselves.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
-Emerson

Look how Beautiful You are.
