I Carry With

Uplifting us, we walked together for a time. And in those hours we held our minds shut like the gates to the castles, our jewels concealed and our skeletons still dangling from the stocks. I balanced along the balustrade, counting footsteps and counting opaque lines that emerged upon your face, our faces grimaced in darkness. Desolate, abandoned, empty rooms. I pace the corridors and search for you, wait for you, call for you. My voice raises the echoes like a million distant souls that are begging to be heard.

Please let us be heard.

I come and I go and I take it in stride. I walk and I run and I think and I sigh.
Cause I don't want to speak to you now, but I can't really sleep alone.
